North Carolina Native Enjoying Life Playing American Football in Europe

In the little vacationer town of Rothenberg, (pop. 20,000) settled in the southeast corner of Bavaria in Germany, not a long way from the Czech line, Cedric Townsend is appreciating life. As the beginning quarterback of the Franken Knights (Division 2 in Germany), and the hostile facilitator, Townsend, in his third period of American football in Europe, is feeling better.

"I played in Sweden for a very long time with the Carlstad Crusaders, however hurt my knee preceding the title game last year," he said. "I had a medical procedure in the offseason and with the legitimate recovery back in North Carolina I am once again at 100%. I feel fortunate that I could keep on playing here."

Because of his European experience and game film, Cedric had a chance to go for the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football class however picked to get back to Europe as opposed to go through tryouts and afterward instructional course.

A local of Kenansville, North Carolina, Townsend went to Rocky Mount College, and in his senior year he directed his group to a 9-3 record. In 2008 the Crusaders, with the 6'5" Townsend at quarterback and running the offense, (1,536 yards hurrying and 23 scores just as 2,241 yards passing for 30 scores and just 3 interferences) arrived at the Swedish semi-finals, losing to possible heroes, the Arlanda Jets. Last year, Carlstad went undefeated (10-0) and Townsend had another incredible season scrambling for 1,045 yards and 19 scores while passing for 2,164 yards and 30 TDs and a simple 2 block attempts) yet with Cedric preferring the knee that he harmed the game previously, the Crusaders lost in the title game to the Stockholm Meanmachines.
